Have you had microblading, but you’re noticing some fading? If it’s time for a touch-up, we are here for you at Allure Esthetic. It’s important to get your touch-up to ensure your beautiful results continue to last. While microblading lasts anywhere from 18 to 30 months, it generally requires touch-ups once or twice a year, depending on your skin type.

How do I know when it’s time for a touch-up?

Microblading provides darker, more beautiful and dramatic brows that frame your face elegantly. When the pigment of your brows is beginning to noticeably fade, you’ll need to go in for a touch-up treatment. Keep in mind that for best results, it’s important not to delay your touch-up.

Like getting your roots done for your hair, if you’re seeing a change in your overall results, it’s time for a touch-up. If you go when your results first start fading, you can simply have the color filled in instead of having the treatment completely redone.

If you wait longer than your esthetician recommends, you may have to have the full microblading procedure done again, which is time-consuming and more expensive than a touch-up application.

Touch-ups are also important after your initial microblading treatment. Once your skin heals completely, a touch-up is needed to ensure the results are completely ideal.

What happens during the microblading touch-up treatment?

During a microblading touch-up session, the treatment procedure is the same as your original microblading, only shorter and more specifically addressed to any problem or faded areas. Your esthetician will fill in any sparse or lightened areas of the eyebrows where the pigment has lightened, and carefully correct any asymmetry. You also have the chance to modify the style of your brows if you’re not happy with the original outcome or if you’re wanting a change in your look.

A microblading touch-up is shorter than the initial treatment because your brow artist only needs to fill in minor areas, as opposed to the entire brow. It will take about 30 minutes to an hour.

Aftercare

While your brows will need time to heal, the recovery period for your microblading touch-up is shorter than your original microblading procedure. Expect five to seven days for your brows to fully recover. During this time:

  • Avoid getting the area wet
  • Don't apply makeup to the area
  • Don't pick at the scabs or scratch itching brows
  • Avoid excessive sweating, including hot yoga, steam rooms, or saunas

Who is a candidate for a microblading touch-up session?

Anyone who is noticing that their brows have lightened after their original microblading treatment is a candidate for a microblading touch-up. Microblading candidates generally meet the following requirements:

  • Are generally healthy
  • Are 18 years old or older
  • Do not take blood-thinning medications
  • Have no skin conditions in the brow area
  • Are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Haven’t taken Accutane for the past year
