Your body lift surgery will take place in our state-licensed surgery center. An overnight stay at a is not necessary. An anesthesiologist will administer general (deep sleep) anesthesia and you will be monitored at all times during the procedure and recovery for your comfort and safety.
Dr. Sajan will make incisions along specific body lines to access the target areas (like your waist, abdomen, groin, buttocks, and thighs). He will remove excess fat and skin and reposition and tighten tissues. Deep support sutures will be used in the underlying tissue areas to help with the formation of your new contours. The incisions may be closed using dissolvable sutures to ensure optimal healing of the wounds.
Dressings or bandages will be applied to the incision areas and Dr. Sajan may place thin tubes (on a temporary basis) under the skin to help drain excess fluid and blood. You need to wear a compression garment for several weeks following surgery to help reduce swelling.
The results of your body lift will be evident shortly after surgery. Fatigue, some swelling, bruising, and discomfort are typical post-surgery reactions. You also may notice some temporary numbness around the incision site. You will be given pain management medication to keep you more comfortable during recovery. While there will be scarring along the incision lines of the lower abdomen and buttocks, it gradually fades and is not significantly visible.
Although you may be able to resume normal activities within one to three weeks, strenuous activities should be avoided for up to four weeks. Dr. Sajan will provide detailed instructions for the proper care of your surgical sites, medications, and follow-up appointments. Carefully follow those instructions to optimize your recovery and results.
