Rhinoplasty Bellevue

As the most prominent feature of the face, the nose tends to draw attention and significantly affect overall facial appearance. A nose that is too large, too small, oddly-shaped or otherwise out of balance with the rest of the face can be a distracting facial feature. At Allure Esthetic Plastic Surgery, we perform arguably the best rhinoplasty Bellevue has to offer with precision and skill to improve the appearance of the nose and restore balance and harmony to the face.

What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is nose reshaping surgery, informally known as a nose job. It is performed to enhance the proportions of the nose, improve facial harmony, and correct impaired breathing caused by structural defects in the nose. Dr. Sajan at Allure Esthetic Plastic Surgery is known for his surgical skills and artistry in creating the right size, shape, and contours of the nose to balance and enhance the remaining facial features.

What Problems Can Be Corrected with Rhinoplasty?

Nose reshaping surgery is designed to improve the shape and appearance of the nose, create symmetry, and improve breathing problems caused by structural nasal defects. In addition to a deviated septum and other structural problems, this procedure can correct a variety of cosmetic nasal issues, including:

  • Nose that is too large or too small in relation to facial balance
  • Nose width at the bridge or at the nostrils
  • Size and position of the nostrils
  • Humps or depressions on the bridge of the nose
  • Enlarged, bulbous, drooping, hooked, or upturned nasal tip
  • Nasal asymmetry
  • Wide or upturned nostrils
  • Crooked or oddly positioned nose

How is Rhinoplasty in Bellevue Performed?

Rhinoplasty is typically performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. The surgery may be performed as either a closed or open procedure:

  • Closed rhinoplasty: All incisions are hidden inside the nose.
  • Open rhinoplasty: An incision is made across the narrow strip of tissue separating the nostrils (columella).

Through these incisions, the surgeon reshapes the underlying structures of the nose. Bone and cartilage may be removed to reduce the size of an overly large nose or to improve nasal contours. Cartilage grafts may be needed to improve nasal structure and shape.

Cartilage for grafts may be taken from the septum (the partition in the middle of the nose), from the ear, or in rare cases, from the ribcage. A deviated septum can be straightened in this procedure and projections inside the nose can be reduced to improve the patient’s breathing.

Once the nasal structures have been sculpted to a new, improved shape, the skin is redraped and the incisions are closed with sutures. Results become visible in a few weeks as post-surgical swelling subsides to reveal a new, more aesthetically pleasing appearance. Many of our patients find that subtle changes to the nose can have a dramatic impact on facial balance and harmony.

What Is Recovery Like after Rhinoplasty in Bellevue?

You will want to allow some time for recovery after nose surgery. Most of our patients are able to return to work and resume normal activities in approximately one week after the procedure. However, it is important to avoid sports, exercise, strenuous activities, and heavy lifting for several weeks, as instructed by Dr. Sajan, to protect your nose during the healing process.

It is normal to experience pain, bruising, swelling, and some bleeding during the first few days after nose surgery. Medications can help manage any post-surgical discomfort. Rest often during this time with your head elevated above your chest, stay hydrated, and apply cold compresses to minimize swelling.

Have someone drive you home after the procedure and stay with you during your initial recovery period, as it may be difficult to perform certain tasks for the first few days. In most cases, sutures are removed during a post-op visit approximately one week after surgery.

What is Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a non-invasive procedure through which patients can achieve some of the benefits of rhinoplasty without undergoing surgery. The treatment involves injecting specific types of dermal fillers into the nose to create the desired cosmetic effect. After the injections are performed, the filler is massaged to help sculpt a new look and improve overall facial profile.

This treatment does not remove any tissue from your nose. It works by creating subtle changes in nasal contours. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can be performed to correct:

  • Hump or bump on the bridge of the nose
  • Drooping or asymmetrical nasal tip
  • Depression or dip on the outside of the nose
  • Asymmetrical nostrils
  • Slightly crooked nose
  • Overly large nostril rims
  • Narrow nasal bridge

If you want minimal improvements in the appearance of your nose, non-surgical rhinoplasty may be the right treatment option for you. Benefits of this procedure include:

  • No surgery, no incisions, no downtime
  • Subtle, natural-looking results
  • Comfortable, painless procedure
  • Results visible immediately
  • Reversible procedure (gives patients the opportunity to change their minds or to try out revisions to the nose before committing to surgery)

How Do I Know If Rhinoplasty In Bellevue Is Right for Me?

Rhinoplasty is the third most popular cosmetic surgery in the country. As reported by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), 223,000 nose reshaping procedures were performed in the U.S. in a recent year. However, it is also a complex and highly individualized procedure and among the most difficult head and neck surgeries to perform.

To make an informed decision about whether rhinoplasty in Bellevue is right for you, schedule an in-depth consultation with Dr. Sajan at Allure Esthetic Plastic Surgery. He will listen carefully to your cosmetic goals, discuss how your nose can be altered, recommend any additional procedures needed, and cover the factors that affect the outcome of rhinoplasty, such as age, ethnicity, skin type, general health, and degree of nasal deformity.

Nose surgery is not a cookie-cutter treatment. It is a difficult and delicate procedure that requires a surgeon with a high level of artistry and skill. If you are a good candidate and ready to undergo surgery to enhance your nose and overall facial appearance, Dr. Sajan can tailor a rhinoplasty surgical plan specifically for you.
